Blog Resources

Hello fellow Culinary Curators, Lifestyle experts, and future Bloggers!

Some of you want to know how I do my thing, that is what makes my blog what it is. I love what I do, and creating beautiful content is a blessing.

I have answered some questions to help fill in the blanks.

  Why did you want to start a blog?

                                          As an artist, food stylist, home chef, and design enthusiast, a blog helps me to curate a world full of possibilities of food and art and share them with you. I

                                          get such gratification and joy when someone has benefited by the content on this blog.

                                          I love being able to set my own hours and do what I love full time.

Where do you find your inspiration?

I find inspiration everywhere. As a trained artist, I look to see the beauty in everything from all things vintage, nature, the human form, graphic, industrial, exterior and interior design.

                                           I also get inspiration from travel and family members who taught me how to cook and to appreciate seasonal cooking.

Where do you find the items you use for styling your photos?

Wayfair is such a good go to and you can find just about anything you need. They also offer a Professional Service for great deals for bloggers for everything form props and kitchen equipment to interiors and office design. Check these other stores for getting more great stuff like JossandMain and Birch Lane.

Amazon is a good resource to compare prices and it doesn’t hurt to have Prime Membership for extra goodies.

If you can’t find what you need on Wayfair you can still get paid to shop to build your brand by signing up with Rakuten ! Yes! get paid every time you shop. It’s like a rewards card without the card. Go here to see a list of the stores you shop the most.

Do you take all of your own photos?

I take most of them. My beau is a professional photographer and videographer, Kai Morrison. You may have seen some of his photo contributions here on Instagram. I do all of my own styling.

Can I hire you to do Food Styling for my project or cookbook?

Yes! I am available for Food Styling and recipe development. Contact me to discuss what we can do together.

Can I use your photos or recipe on my website or blog?

Thanks for asking.

Yes. I would like for you for you to provide 2 links back to the source: One to the recipe and one back to the blog artistandresidencehome.com

If you would like to work together on a future project, please contact me to discuss what we can do together giselle@artisinresidehome.com.

What camera do you use?

We use a Canon EOS 5D MK3 with 24-70mm F2.8/L. I have learned a lot  about lighting and composition to photo editing. The body  of the camera is not as important as the lens you use. This can always bee upgraded and specialized.

Every time I pick up the camera I feel more confident and you will too if you haven’t started yet.

What site host do you use?

I use Siteground. Their website hosting starts at only $3.95/mo ! They have a great customer support program that will help you every step of the way and get back quickly with any issues or questions you may have.

This includes:

                                         * Free SSL and Http(s) (important for monetizing and selling on your site

                                         * Free email

                                         * 24/7 Support

                                         * And many other features!

You can also check out Bluehost another popular site hosting company. They currently offer $2.65/mo!

This includes:

A free domain

A free SSL (this is very important for monetizing and selling on your site)
