DO THESE SOUND FAMILIAR?
This year I’m going to get organized
I would cook more if I could find what I needed
I’m tired of buying things I already have
I hate throwing out good food
I want to stay on budget with my grocery bill
Cooking is taking up more of time than I would like
We could go on saying these things for years before we put our intentions into actions. Yes, there is always tomorrow, but today is IS yesterday’s tomorrow.

When is the best time to get organized?
Before the holidays for less stress and easier cooking and entertaining.
Moving to a new home or apartment? Best to start fresh and cultivate new habits.
A New Year’s resolution is as good as any especially if you a re trying to eat better and it will keep you on track. Check out Meal Prepping for Diets
Expecting a new baby? There will be less time to do a a lot of things around the home. Organizing Your Kitchen will be your savior day after day no matter who’s doing the cooking.
Spring Cleaning. What a perfect time to renew an refresh and finally clean those shelves and hard to reach places.

Before you even write down an action plan you need to really understand why you want and/or need to organize your pantry. Understanding them will motivate you to act and put you on a better plan of action to fit your needs. We all cook differently and a ‘one size fits all’ approach won’t work for everyone.
I’m sure you’ll find that these “why’s” will run across the board in other areas of the kitchen like the fridge, freezer, cabinets, root cellar/basement and even the rest of your home for further organizing. No matter how big or small your pantry is, it CAN be tackled!
Now that you’ve written down and understand your why’s, it’s time to act! In the coming weeks I will be doing an entire series on how to get organized in the for busy cooks, meal planners, diet and lifestyle changes, wellness, creating an inspirational kitchen for impromptu and adventurous meals. The top 3 being your dry pantry, fridge and freezer.

Completing the top three (dry pantry, fridge, and freezer) will free yourself of unused clutter and on your way to a no waste kitchen and peace of mind.
Also think about other new areas you may create to ease space up space in your cabinets and things you use frequently like:
- Create a Coffee and Tea cabinet or an entire space that will store the coffee machine and tea pot, coffees, teas, pod organizers, sweeteners and spices
- Create a breakfast shelf or area for cereals, oatmeal, snack bars and even whole fruit
- A drawer for homemade popcorn with seasoning salts
And lastly, accept the fact that your pantry, fridge and freezer are living organisms and you will never totally be done organizing. Hopefully that will ease some tension in trying to create exact perfection and won’t hinder you from starting. Your goal should be to clean house and make your life easier.
Be inspired, plan, do, enjoy!
