Oh don’t we just love the start of a new year?!
The resolutions, the regrets, and the stress to keep those resolutions.
I stopped making resolutions years ago as it is a tradition that really didn’t serve me well. Most of the time they were general resolutions that everyone else has, but I didn’t put a whole lot of thought into WHY I wanted to do these things so my plan to do them wasn’t always successful. Most of my goals that were succesful started later on in the year and they weren’t broadcast to anyone else.
Resolution or not, you can’t help but to think about making changes. I have big ones ,medium ones, and small ones and I’m trying to do them all at once.
I find the best way to tackle anything is to write it all down. I am a serious note taker and list maker and that process has kept me accountable to reach my goals.
RESET ! REBOOT ! RENEW !
Here are some things that have help me:
WORK AND LIVING
- USING A PLANNER
I absolutely LOVE my planner. I can customize it for me and I get a huge sense of accomplishment when I can see where I’m headed in the immediate future.

2. MAKING A ‘TO DO’ LIST
Again, I’m a serious list maker so a “TO DO” list is the only way I can remember a million things. (You just need to remember to LOOK at your list!)
3. HAVING A PLACE FOR THINGS
Whether it’s your desk, your bathroom, your kitchen, or the tv room; having a place for things save you time, energy, and stress.
Take on the one room or area that really bugs you and get it organized. I promise you you will feel like a super hero and a great sense of accomplishment and will help you to move on the other areas of your home and life.
4. GET YOUR CREATIVE JUICES GOING
Find that something that takes a spark and lights it on fire! Learn how to cook better, take up gardening or a new sport. Taking classes on something of interest is a great way to get your feet wet and to see how deep your feelings are for it. Whatever it is that makes you excited when you think about doin it, do it.

STYLE AND BEAUTY
5. ORGANIZING MY CLOSETS
I used to stand in front of my closet forever looking for something to wear only to keep putting my hands on things that are out of season, too small or too big, damaged, or I just keep passing it by or worse can’t find it.

6. GETTING YOUR SELF TOGETHER
Do you NEVER have time in the morning to get yourself together and get everyone out the door? Do these things to ease the pain and save some time.
a. Have your makeup sorted for a 5 minute face, or a 15 minute face, and a I have a little more time face. Put these items in their own container or beauty bag. If you know what you CAN do in this time you won’t waste time looking for this or that and you will still look great heading out the door.
a. Lay out your clothes the night before. Shoes included.
HEALTH
7. START MEAL PLANNING
a. Pack your lunch or meals the night before or Meal Plan on your day off including snacks for the kids after school. Label them. You can even put that in your lunch bag in the fridge. Now you can just grab and go.

b. If you are starting a new diet or any additions to your health goals, planning out your meals will help you stay on track and keep you from eating what you don’t want to and will regret later. Start with a few days at a time until you get the hang of it, then move onto a week, then 2 weeks at a time. This will also save you money on food overall and may also help you reach any savings goals!

8. EMOTIONAL CHANGES
Have you ever looked at your life and wondering how and why things around you are making you feel better or for the worse? The things that evoke emotions of happiness, sadness, anger, and frustration may be the first thing you take a look at moving forward to become the best YOU you can be. Try not to skim over these. They may take some time. maybe more than a year to figure out, but opening your mind to do and be something more is your prerogative.
a. Evaluate any friendships or relationships that are not adding something positive in your life.
b. Why am I not able to move past bad habits?
c. Stop and think how things, people, or situations make you feel and how it effects other things and decisions in your life. You may be surprised at what you find.
I think we all want to strive to be better in our lives. Sometimes just learning how to make better scrambled eggs is all the push we need to move forward with everything else.
