Hello Summer !

Hello Summer !

When I think of Summer, I think of all things sunny, bright and light. It’s a time when all those yummy fruits and vegetables turn into fresh recipes like strawberry pie and strawberry shortcake, peach ice cream and peach cobbler, grilled corn on the cob, fried green tomatoes, bountiful salads, and refreshing popsicles.

I try to bring all of that lightness into my recipes so they can be taken outside to share with friends and family on picnics and cookouts all season long.

Yellow is the color of the sun and drenches us with light and warmth and is the perfect color to express a happy and cheery state of mind in the summertime. There aren’t too many things that can be more iconic to express that than the smiley face🙂, but since I’m crushing on yellow so hard right now, I couldn’t help myself to put together some not so mellow yellow loves and wants.

What could be more inviting than a yellow kitchen calling you too make a cup of coffee or tea or bake your favorite cake with these happy decor items that will give your kitchen what it’s been wanting and you will want to cook in it as mush as possible.

What would Summer be without all these delicious fruits and veggies. Get inspired to make that ‘best of’ dish for the cookout. Here are some recipes to get started. Sweet Creamed Corn. Southern Banana Pudding. Sunny Lemon Curd Coffee Cake. The Best Lemon Curd. Candied Pineapple Flowers. Zoodle Shrimp Scampi.

I wish I wore more yellow in my life. It just makes me smile when I wear it and people will smile when they see you in it. If you don’t want to commit to a bold statement in a full outfit or dress, take baby steps with some sandals, accessories, or shoes. They are sure too add that special pop to any outfit this summer.

Get your fitness on with these electric adrenaline starters from leggings and yoga mats to weights. Even when you’re not feelin’ it, just looking at these will get you in the mood.

Work work work work work! Make your work day a happier place with office pieces that will lift your spirits to keep going and write down all those great ideas and act on them. Think about using ‘out of the box’ containers like these daisy containers normally used for the kitchen can make a statement. But first you need a comfy velvet mustard chair.

For the rest of your home, yellow can be the design savior to your decor blah woes. Just a couple of accents can doo the trick or go big with a dining table, a large painting, or one wall or a big window painted in your favorite shade of happy.

DIY is where it’s at in making a statement.  So easy to take a flea market picture frame and transform it into modern art by painting half of it. Make this cute lemon collage by tearing out magazine pages  and using construction and decorative paper and framing as you wish. A fresh cut lemon can make an instant stamp for stationary, party invites, thank you cards or dish towels.
