I started drinking hibiscus tea for health reasons ( it’s said to help lower your blood pressure ) and I really loved the taste and wish I knew about it sooner! So then I started l trying to figure out the best way to make cold hibiscus tea and found a few recipes for hibiscus syrup. I came up with my own version here.
So easy to make a big batch to have on hand in the fridge and make as little or as much as you like. You can add it to plain water for straight up hibiscus tea, to regular black ice tea, and my favorite to sparkling water which I made a Hibiscus Sparkling Cooler with mint ice cubes, lime and blackberries. Get that recipe here.
I even made Hibiscus Marshmallows! OMG! Must try! Get that delicious a pretty recipe here.
Makes for great gifts too.
You’ll need:
Large bottle or several smaller ones with tight fitting tops
A medium heavy bottom pot
A strainer
A median size pot that will fit all of the syrup once made
Funnel
This bottle of deep crimson colored Hibiscus Syrup holds the key to delicious drinks and desserts. Yes, the color is beautiful but be careful it will stain like pomegranate.
The flavor will remind you of berries, so it will go very well with any fresh berries or lemon.
It’s a snap to make and it will last in your fridge for about 3 weeks so you can make all kinds fo variations on your summer drinks as well a s craft cocktails and hot tea for fall and winter. This makes a really pretty drink for Christmas time or even Valentines Day.
It’s also cheaper to buy the dried flowers in bulk as prepackaged hibiscus tea can be very expenisive.
