Peeps Candy Bark

This time of year we see grocery shelves lined with Easter candy and toys, but it usually the same suspects that end up in Easter baskets every year. I have some ideas for nostalgic Easter treats you can make without even turning your oven on.
You use those oh so familiar candies and treats we all know and love like Peeps, Fruit Loop Cereal, Trix Cereal, Wiltons Melts, M & M’s, Sprinkles, and more.
For the Peeps Candy Bark above I used the following:
- Peeps Marshmallow treats in Bunnies and Chicks
- Trix Cereal
- Fruit Loop Cereal
- Annies Bunny shaped animal crackers
- Sprinkles
- Circus Peanut type bunny candy
- M&M’s
- Dehydrated cereal marshmallows
- Wilton’s Candy Melts in various colors
Here’s how to Make it
Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or silicone mat.
Group together all of your ingredients. The process will go quickly.
Melt at least 4 cups of Wiltons Candy Melts in a microwave safe bowl. Follow the directions on the bag. You can use what ever combination of color you wish. just melt each color separately.
Add melted candies as desired. The best way is to dollop each color in a different spot on the sheet, then spread with an offset spatula or knife to swirl together and create a marble affect.
Add large candy pieces first like the Peeps and push into place. Then the M&M candies, then the sprinkle on anything else.
Let set completely.
Break apart and package into cellophane bagsP
Peep Tarts

I don’t know too many people who haven’t had a Pop Tart sometime in their lives. We love them so much that we want to make homemade and gourmet versions of them. Now that is nostalgia. This Peep Tarts are really two treats in one.
I made these from several different flavors of Pop Tarts, Peeps, and Wiltons Candy Melts, and Wiltons Royal Icing Mix. I love the bright colors! Of course you can choose how bright or how pastel you want them to look. Your imagination is the limit.
Don’t worry about being perfect with your decorating. The idea is to have fun and create your own style. Everyone will love them even the big kids.

Here’s how you Make them
Choose any Pop Tart flavor. You will need ones with all corners in tact so buy more boxes than needed to sift through them.
Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper. Then place the same size baking rack on top.
Place all of the Pop Tarts that made the cut onto the baking rack about 2 inches apart.
Mix the Royal Icing according to the directions and add your food coloring to desired shade. You will need one cup of icing for every 4 pop tarts.
Carefully drizzle over royal icing over each Pop Tart covering the top completely. Let air dry for a least 4 hours or until there are no wet spots.
Melt your candy melts according to the directions. Decorate the Pop Tarts. and let that layer dry about 15 minutes.
Using the candy melts as glue, put a dollop on the bottom of a Peep and place it on top of the Pop tarts and press to adhere.
Your Peep Tarts are now done! pack in clear cellophane bags and tie with a ribbon or use them as place cards for an Easter Brunch or dinner.
