Pretty in Pink Marshmallows

Pretty in Pink Marshmallows

You’re never grow too old to still love marshmallows. I like them store bought or homemade like some Hibiscus Marshmallows I made. You can get that recipe here.

Whether you buy them or make them, you can still glam them up with an ombre’ effect and a touch of edible metallic powder and spray food color.

Wilton and other brands make edible food safe spray colors. You can find the edible gold powder at fine bakery supply stores or online.

To make the ombre’ effect, just spread the marshmallows flat on a prepared cookie sheet with parchment paper. Shake the can very well then angle the spray to just hit the sides of them. Wait a minute or 2 then scramble the marshmallows and turn them around before spraying the next color. You can use a many colors as you wish, but more than three may start to look a little muddy. Let set a few minutes and they are ready to use.

I used both mini marshmallows, large, and strawberry flavored heart shaped ones. I loved how both of them came out. They look soo pretty on top of hot chocolate. Use to top off bar cookies, rice crispie treats, or s’mores!

I used the marshmallows on some Red Velvet Hot Chocolate. Sooo Pretty!

To make the Red Velvet Hot chocolate:

If using a ready made hot cocoa mix, follow the directions and add 6-8 drops of red food coloring to 2 servings. Stir and serve.

For hot cocoa from scratch, heat 2 cups milk or nut milk on medium heat. Do not boil or the milk will over flow. Add 1/2 cup chopped chocolate or chocolate chips and stir until dissolved. Then add 6-8 drops of food coloring. Stir and serve.
